100th Anniversary Mother’s Day Celebration

It’s been 100 years since the first Mother’s day was officially celebrated. It was the love of Anna Jarvis had for her mother that leads us to celebrate this special day every year. After her mother died in 1905, Anna advocated for a day specifically celebrating mothers and all they do for their children. She felt that American holidays were just too male and started a letter writing campaign to newspapers and politicians. All her hard work paid off when U.S. congress established the second Sunday of May as Mother’s day on May 8, 1914.

Let’s face it, although our mothers may be a little trying at times we wouldn’t be here today without them. Now is the time to give her a gift that will encompass just how much she means to you. There are 2 billion mothers in the world today, make yours feel like she is the only one that matters.

According to Hallmark 133 million cards are exchanged on Mother’s day. A card is great; it lets the recipient know you were thinking of them as you rushed to the drugstore at the last possible moment. A gift, a piece of jewelry that will last her a lifetime will truly make her feel like the most important woman in the world, knowing you took the time to pick out a piece that exemplifies her.
